Adam Duritz of Counting Crows is set to receive the Bob Saget Legacy Award at this year’s Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine benefit, which will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at The Edison Ballroom in New York City.

Jeff Ross is set to host the event, which will feature Hannibal Buress, Kelsey Cook, Jim Gaffigan and Nikki Glaser, while broadcaster Katie Couric will make a special appearance.

Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine is hosted by the Scleroderma Research Foundation (SRF), in partnership with the New York Comedy Festival. Event co-chairs are Susan Feniger, Regina Hall, Caroline Hirsch and Kelly Rizzo. The event begins with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m.

Counting Crows are best-known for their 1994 hit “Mr. Jones,” which reached No. 2 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart, and for writing and performing “Accidentally in Love” from the soundtrack of Shrek 2, for which they were nominated for both an Oscar for best original song and a Grammy for best song written for a motion picture, television or other visual media.

The group has had six top 10 albums on the Billboard 200, including Recovering the Satellites, which reached No. 1 in 1996. The band received its first two Grammy nominations in 1995 – best new artist and best rock performance by a duo or group with vocal for “Round Here.”

Saget spearheaded Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine for 30 years. The event has raised more than $30 million for the Scleroderma Research Foundation. The beloved TV star died in January 2022 at age 65, from blunt head trauma, most likely caused by a fall.

The Full House actor had championed the Scleroderma Research Foundation since losing his sister Gay to the disease in 1994. Scleroderma is a rare and often life-threatening autoimmune condition that can cause fibrosis in the skin and other vital organs. Saget began his involvement with SRF in 1991 through Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine – as an attendee, performer and eventually as a key figure in organizing and producing the event. He joined the board of directors in 2003.

John Mayer performed at last year’s Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine fundraiser, which was held on Oct. 29 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Ross hosted the event, which also featured comedians Whitney Cummings, Alex Edelman, Chris Hardwick and Jim Jefferies.

Mayer, Ross and Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 2022 edition of the fundraiser, which was held in Beverly Hills, Calif. just nine months after Saget’s death. Dave Chappelle performed, admitting “Tonight I got drunk because I love Bob so much. Bob, I can feel you in this room tonight.” Bill Burr, Rosie O’Donnell and Kathy Griffin were among the other stand-ups on hand.
