When is Chick-Fil-A not trying something new and cutting edge? The beloved chicken restaurant chain is experimenting with a new way to make some of its popular menu items even more accessible. On Friday, Oct. 24, a Chick-fil-A vending machine was placed in a testing location in the Wellstar Medical Group Health Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. It’s “located close to a Chick-fil-A on the hospital’s campus” a spokesperson told People. According to The Augusta Chronicle, the vending machine is inside the “F entrance” of the hospital, located on Harper Street. The limited-edition vending machine is a temperature-controlled refrigerator that has a touchscreen interface and accepts credit cards, debit cards, and digital forms of payments such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Through the vending machine, a select number of Chick-fil-A favorites are available to customers almost 24 hours a day, seven days a week. But much like the traditional Chick-fil-A locations, the vending machines will not be available on Sundays, People noted. Curious to see what’s available in the Chick-fil-A vending machine? For now, the machine carries two flavors of Waffle Potato Chips, original and the Chick-fil-A sauce flavor, for $2.19 each. The Chick-fil-A Cool Wrap with Avocado Lime Ranch is available for $8.49, and the Southwest Veggie Wrap with Creamy Salsa can be had for $7.99. And if you’re concerned about the items going bad inside the machine, worry no more, because the vending machine has technology built into it to ensure expired products are not made available for purchase. Per a video from 11Alive, the machine is restocked every 18 hours, and all of the current available items are served cold. The sandwiches come out from the machine wrapped in plastic and contained in a sealed box that also holds a napkin. Response, at least on the Internet, has been positive. “I lowkey wish there [were] more of these,” one person noted in the Chick-fil-A subreddit. “It’s definitely really cool. It’s located at the children’s hospital side of the facility so families who can only run down for a minute or are there late after the CFA closes can grab something,” another Reddit user shared.
