Coronation Street star's car vandalised in 'opportunistic theft' after returning to UK

Coronation Street star Jonathan Howard has revealed his frustration after yobs targeted his motor in Manchester, describing it as a “welcome back gift” from local troublemakers. Howard, 38, who portrays Carl Webster in the ITV drama, made his return to Britain this year following a period working in Hollywood. But his homecoming took a sour turn when he left his vehicle parked in Manchester only to find vandals had smashed the rear windows. Sharing an image of his damaged vehicle, Jonathan quipped: “Nice little welcome back gift from the Manchester scallies.”, reports the Mirror . Since arriving on the famous cobbles, Howard has created quite a stir playing Kevin and Debbie Webster’s previously unknown younger sibling. Carl’s entrance immediately sparked controversy as he pursued his brother’s spouse, Abi, whilst transforming his business operations into a questionable garage providing fraudulent MOTs. His readiness to break regulations generated further chaos when he got mixed up with nicked vehicles, attempting to gather funds to settle blackmail demands from Tracy Barlow, who had uncovered his fling with Abi. Nevertheless, Carl’s romantic pursuits didn’t end there. Viewers were left gobsmacked last month when it emerged that he had begun a fresh romance with ex-footballer James Bailey. Howard revealed the driving force behind his character’s daring actions as he said: “Carl likes living life on the edge, he is a hedonist and a free spirit, he is attracted to a person regardless of their gender and if he sees something he wants he goes for it with no real thought to the consequences of his actions. “He is frustrated that Abi has gone away with Kevin and he needs something to distract himself. There is a spark between him and James so he goes for it. “Tracy was also offering herself to him but he isn’t stupid and he knows that would be a dangerous move, James on the other hand is less complicated and more fun.” Carl’s antics have transformed him into one of the most volatile characters on Coronation Street through his romantic chaos and his dodgy business ventures. Whether he’s under police investigation for nicked motors, attempting to handle friction and turmoil with his relatives, or juggling flings, his outrageous plotlines have been gripping audiences and leaving them glued to their screens.
