Coronation Street fans are certain newcomer Maggie Driscoll has a secret child and they are already on the cobbles. Maggie (Pauline McLynn) recently made her debut on the ITV soap , rocking up to the famous cobbles as Eva Price’s (Catherine Tyldesley) “mother-in-law from hell”. Viewers will recall that Eva - who was last seen in 2018 - returned to Weatherfield this week after new husband Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) surprised her by buying her the Rovers Return. The couple wasted no time in settling into the pub and welcomed all the regulars with a huge opening party. However, due to Ben being unable to pay the final instalment for the business, he had to ask his beloved mum Maggie for financial help. And soon enough she rocked up to the Rovers - much to the shock of Eva. Since then, Maggie has settled into Weatherfield while trying to run the pub with her just-as-headstrong daughter-in-law Eva. As well as Ben and Eva, Maggie's arrival also comes alongside her grandsons, Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike) and Will, and Eva's daughter, Susie, whom she shared with the late Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward). But now, in typical soap fashion, fans can’t help but think a shock secret child twist is in store. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person said: “How long until it comes out that Maggie has a secret kid on the street?” Someone else chimed in and predicted Carla Connor (Alison King): “My money is on Carla! Her and Ben lookalike!” A third agreed: “Would love this!” Another wrote: “You might be onto something….” Maggie actress Pauline McLynn is probably best known for playing Mrs. Doyle in the Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted and Libby Croker in the Channel 4 comedy drama Shameless. She played Yvonne Cotton in BBC's EastEnders . Ahead of her debut episode airing Pauline spoke about joining Coronation Street and when asked how she felt upon getting the role of Maggie. She admitted: "Bewildered! I really didn't see this one coming down the line. "I'm not one of those actors who has goals, or even ambition if I'm honest [laughs]. I kind of just stagger from one thing to the next, depending on who wants you. As a result, I didn't have this on a bucket list of things.... “This was huge. It was like, 'Who? What? Say that again? Coronation Street are interested?' I did then go into the ins and outs of it and where this mad idea came from..." Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
