Coronation Street Christmas scenes confirmed for family as another new member 'sealed'

One Coronation Street family is set for a dramatic Christmas as their past is revealed. On Monday night, soap watchers saw the arrival of the Driscoll family alongside returning fan favourite Eva Price. It was announced over the summer that Weatherfield favourite Eva, played by Catherine Tyldesley, would be making a huge comeback as the landlady of The Rovers Return. However, on Monday night's episode, Eva wasn't alone as she was joined by partner Ben Driscoll, played by Aaron McCusker, and his interfering mother Maggie, played by Pauline McLynn. Teasing upcoming scenes, Maggie star Pauline, 63, spoke to us exclusively about what soap fans can expect coming up for the Driscoll family. Pauline said of Maggie's history and whether she has a husband: "Yes, well, where is the husband? We will find out around Christmas . I will say that much. "Yeah, we won't be left hanging, wondering, you know, what the past is there. But yeah, there are two sons. But, you know, we as actors, we're told the kind of like arc of a story of what's happened. "And I did ask when I was, you know, at a producer's meeting, I said, I want to meet the other son. And they said, 'we're thinking about it'... "So sometimes they make you wait, you know, and it might be just before you get the script saying, so-and-so walks through the door. His name is Finlay, by the way." Pauline added: "I don't know if he, I think he's younger than Aaron's character, Ben. So yeah, so I like to torture Aaron, even though I know nothing about the character of Finlay, and just say, 'I'd say he's the favourite son though, isn't he?' "For instance, it's all there for the torture. And I think, you know, that's very much in keeping with any family anyway, you know, even if it never makes it onto the screen. They [the Driscoll family] have great fights. "And poor old Ben, the son, Maggie's son in it, he is stuck between two very, like he's devoted to both women, but he's stuck between a rock and a hard place. "Nothing he can do will help there at all, you know, and he's going to have to make a choice at some stage, or, you know, put the foot down somewhere with one or other of them. I don't envy him that!" Coronation Street continues on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITV X.
