It’s fair to say there have been some rather wild relationships that have taken place on ITV ’s Coronation Street , with plenty spilling off-screen too. While some of these real-life relationships have fizzled out, others have flourished, resulting in marriages and children. This month, Kit Green actor Jacob Roberts seemingly confirmed his new romance with a colleague on the soap, Corrie PR Caitlin Connolly. According to reports, the pair are “besotted” with each other and have been an “item for quite a while”. But Jacob is not the first star to fall in love on the iconic cobbles. From Tina O Brien to Will Roache, here we take a look at some of the romances to come out of Weatherfield. Alan Halsall met Lucy-Jo Hudson on the Coronation Street set in 2002. Alan is best known for playing Tyrone Dobbs while Lucy-Jo portrayed Katy Harris from 2002 to 2005. In 2004, Alan and Lucy-Jo began dating and they tied the knot in 2009. In 2013, they welcomed their daughter, Sienna-Rae. Fans were surprised when the couple announced their separation in March 2016, only to reconcile shortly after in an attempt to save their relationship. Unfortunately, their efforts proved unsuccessful, and they ended things for good in 2018. The breakup quickly turned sour, with tensions between them playing out in a very public manner, as Mirror reports. After Lucy-Jo, Alan was in a relationship with his Coronation Street co-star Tisha Merry until early 2024 when the couple decided to part ways. Back in 2019, Faye Brookes was said to have had a whirlwind romance with her co-star Sam Robertson (Adam Barlow) during a break from her then-partner Gareth Gates. The quick "fling" is believed to have taken place when Faye - who played Kate Connor - spent two weeks apart from Gates. An insider told The Sun at the time: “Sam was a good friend and a shoulder to cry on. Before they realised it, one thing had led to another. But Faye was keen to make things work with Gareth and put a halt to things with Sam going any further." Following her split from Gareth, Faye is now married to Iwan Lewis, while Gareth is dating Allana Taylor. Eileen Grimshaw actress Sue Cleaver is currently married to Brian Owen, a lighting technician for ITV. But she was once married to a fellow Coronation Street actor. From 1993 to 2003, Sue was married to actor James Quinn. Soap fans will recognise James from roles in various programmes - including Coronation Street. He has played six different roles on the soap since 1989. Meanwhile, more recently, he played DS Willets, on-and-off from 2013 to 2021. The copper made an appearance following the Rovers Return blaze in March 2013 and following Pat Phelan’s crimes being exposed in 2018. Despite divorcing, Sue and James are on good terms and in 2009, the pair starred alongside each other in a play called Marriages Made In Heaven. Sarah Platt star Tina O Brien dated Jason Grimshaw star Ryan Thomas in 2003 and welcomed a child, daughter Scarlett, who is now also an actress, in 2008. However, just one year later the pair split after Tina claimed Ryan admitted she “didn't do it for him anymore”. According to Tina, Ryan had dumped her just one week before Scarlett’s first birthday, leaving her “absolutely devastated”. “He said he didn't love me anymore. He said I didn't do it for him anymore. Those were his words. He said he didn't want the responsibility of a relationship with me,” she confessed to new! magazine. Despite continuing to co-parent their daughter, Ryan and Tina have had some bitter public spats over the years. Tina went on to find love with Adam Crofts, marrying him in 2018. However, their relationship ended last year. Ryan meanwhile, is now dating TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh and they welcomed son Roman in 2020 after getting engaged in Italy in 2019. Their second child, daughter Lilah Rae, was born in May 2022. Will has played Ken Barlow on Coronation Street since the very first episode broadcast in 1960. l And the actor’s love life too has often made the headlines. Will previously confessed to having an affair years back with Pat Phoenix - who played battleaxe Elsie Tanner. He said: “It was just a one-off. It was just something that happened one night when we were together. We weren't right for each other. “She invited me round to her flat and we had a few drinks, then one thing led to another. At that time, she had a reputation and I had a reputation, and she felt we should meet, as it were. It just happened." Soap legend Sue Nicholls was married to Weatherfield villain Mark Eden for nearly three decades until his death. The actress, who plays Audrey Roberts, met Mark under a cherry tree at a party in 1983. However, they became closer when he joined Corrie in 1986. The Corrie stars said "I do" in 1993, which was two years after Mark's alter-ego met his end at the hands of a tram in Blackpool. They lived a joyous marriage up until Mark's heartbreaking passing on New Year's Day, 2021, having battled Alzheimer's and being hospitalised in the prior year.
