Cops hunting attacker who left man fighting for his life release new info

Police have released a new description of a suspect who left a young man fighting for his life in hospital following an attack. A 21-year-old man was left in a critical condition after the incident at around 11.35pm on Sunday, September 14, on Telford Street, Inverness. The man was raced to Raigmore Hospital as police locked down the streets and began to investigate . The suspect who police wish to speak to regarding the assault is described as a man between 5ft 8in to 6ft in height, of medium build, and wearing a light-coloured hat – possibly a beanie – and dark-coloured clothing, including a black padded jacket with a hood. Detective Inspector Caroline Mackay said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and who may have seen anyone matching the description given to get in touch. “We are particularly keen to speak to anyone with dash-cam, doorbell or other recorded footage which could be relevant to our investigation. “I would also like to thank members of the public for their cooperation and assistance so far as we continue our enquiries.” As police carried out their enquiries, the takeaway, Mr Chips and Mr Rice, in Telford Street, was cordoned off. Elsewhere, a police car was seen sitting outside the eatery, with locals claiming that a window of the premises had been smashed. Several streets were also blocked off to the public around the Highland capital’s Grant Street, half a mile away from Telford Street. Nelson Street was also cordoned off from the junction with Grant Street, at the Merkinch Community Shop . The cordon ran down to a network rail bridge which cuts across Nelson Street. A lane between Harry Gow Bakery on Grant Street, and Madras Street, was also cordoned off. That cordon ran up to the end of Madras Street , where it meets India Street. Two police vans and a patrol vehicle were spotted at the scene in the city on Monday, September 15. Officers in hi-vis jackets were also seen at the cordon. A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Officers in Inverness are appealing for information following the serious assault of a 21-year-old man. “The incident happened around 11.20pm on Sunday, 14 September, on Madras Street. The 21-year-old was found a short time later seriously injured on Telford Street and was taken to Raigmore Hospital where he remains in critical condition. “The suspect is described as a man around 5ft 8in to 6ft tall, of medium build, and wearing a light-coloured hat, possibly a beanie style, and dark-coloured clothing, including a black padded jacket with a hood. “Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3524 of 14 September, 2025.”
