Convicted Felon Arrested After South Sacramento Standoff, Multiple Firearms and Narcotics Charges Laid

Yesterday's standoff in South Sacramento ended with the arrest of a convicted felon after Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call. According to a post on the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, 32-year-old Duke Van Le, armed with two handguns, was threatening family members at a residence on Daylight Court, and it was his parents and a 6-year-old niece who were at risk before they were safely evacuated from the scene. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including Elk Grove Police and CHP, worked together to end the situation peacefully. Officers acted quickly, using an armored Bearcat vehicle to secure the area. Le eventually surrendered before deputies had to make any public announcements, as reported by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office. Upon Le's surrender, deputies conducted a thorough search of the residence, locating two loaded handguns and three bottles of illegal narcotics. One of the firearms was unregistered; the other had been reported stolen out of Stockton, elevating the case's complexity and the suspect's potential charges, as per the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office. Le is now facing multiple firearms and narcotics-related charges and is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on a $500,000 bail, his history of convictions now augmenting the sentence weight like stones in the deep pockets of justice. A court appearance is scheduled for October 28, though details regarding his booking photo are withheld from public release, as the crimes are categorized under California law as "non-violent," as stated by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
