Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud has hinted at appointing MLAs as District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents. Mr Goud, along with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, met All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal in New Delhi on Saturday, where discussions focused on finalising the names of DCC presidents. During an informal interaction with the media there on Sunday, Mr.Goud said he was not fully aware that Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy’s wife and Kodad MLA N.Padmavathi Reddy had applied for the Suryapet DCC president post. However, he noted that Mr. Uttam Reddy’s family had been in politics for the past 30 years. “Given their seniority, the party high command can consider Ms. Padmavathi for the DCC chief post,” he said, adding that some other efficient MLAs would also be offered the coveted posts. He stated that being an MLA is not an obstruction to becoming the DCC president. He, however, made it clear that new entrants cannot ask for posts for their family members. Referring to the recent internal clashes among several ministers, the TPCC chief said that was a closed chapter for now but urged party leaders, including ministers and MLAs, to be cautious while making remarks. On the other hand, the Congress MLC exuded confidence that the party would win the Jubilee Hills bypoll. Meanwhile, he slammed BJP leaders, including Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, accusing them of doing nothing to secure funds from the Centre for the State’s development. He questioned why Mr.Kishan Reddy was not talking about funds for the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro project. He also targeted MLC K. Kavitha, asking why she was not revealing the facts, given that she has been a member of the previous BRS government for 10 years.
