The WNBA season has wrapped up, and for Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark, it was a year of highs and lows both on and off the court. Clark appeared in just 13 games this season before suffering a season-ending groin injury prior to the All-Star break. Despite the setback, she remained highly effective in the games she did play, earning an All-Star selection and serving as one of the two captains to pick the teams. Her influence off the court was further recognized on Wednesday, as Clark was named to the Forbes list of Most Powerful Women in Sports, ranking No. 4 and making her the highest-ranked athlete on the list. Ahead of her are Gayle Benson, owner of the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans; Amy Howe, CEO of FanDuel; and Amy Montagne, Brand President of Nike. “Caitlin Clark has turned her record-breaking college basketball career into early dominance in the WNBA,” the Forbes article wrote. “Her estimated $8.1 million in income from her rookie season with the Indiana Fever was bolstered by big deals with Nike, Wilson and Gatorade and signals a shift in how female athletes are being valued in the world of professional sports.” “And this is just the beginning. Congratulations Caitlin Clark!!! Well deserved,” a fan said. Someone else added, “Her impact is undeniable. Congratulations [Caitlin Clark].” Another person wrote, “The first three are women in business. She is the most influential player in women’s sport (the female Michael Jordan!)” “Caitlin Clark is an A-list celebrity – the only A-lister in the WNBA. Congrats!!” One more fan commented. Caitlin Clark’s fame began at the collegiate level during her time at Iowa where she became the all-time Division I leader in points scored and helped lead the Hawkeyes to multiple Final Four and national championship appearances. She was then drafted No. 1 overall by the Fever, won Rookie of the Year, and has since been named a two-time All-Star, led the league in assists, and continues to be featured in the most-watched games, highest-priced matchups, and sell out pretty much every arena she plays in.
