Conduct of Legislative business Speaker’s prerogative; Jagan violated Constitution: Former Minister Yanamala
Former Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has described Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s statement that he would attend the Legislative Assembly sessions if he was given as much time as he wanted to speak as childish.
He suggested to the former Chief Minister to note that the Speaker was the sole authority on the conduct of the House proceedings and he (the Speaker) would allot time (to MLAs) in proportion to the strength of the parties concerned.
Mr. Ramakrishnudu said the system prevails over individual demands and Mr. Mohan Reddy should know it from what has been going on in the Legislative Council where the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has a majority and the chairman belongs to the YSRCP.
He advised the former CM to recall how many times the Telugu Desam Party MLAs were denied the opportunity to speak and suspended as per the YSRCP’s whims and fancies in 2019-24.
Mr. Mohan Reddy has violated the oath taken by him as per the Constitutional norms twice, the first time was at the time of filing nomination before the election and second, in the House after being elected as MLA.
This attracts Mr. Mohan Reddy’s disqualification and of other MLAs of his party for the lack of accountability to their electors.
