A distributor of shipping, industrial and packaging materials that is coming to Connecticut next year with a new warehouse center has begun recruitment efforts for the more than 200 jobs it is expected to provide, according to the company. Uline has said the new warehouse in Plainfield is expected to open its doors next summer and be fully up and running by November 2026. It will be the company’s 15th fulfillment center. Uline said it launched its “Talent Network” to give job seekers an opportunity “to learn more about employment opportunities at its new Plainfield warehouse.” The Uline will employ more than 200 people, with the “majority of those job openings being warehouse associates with pay starting from $26 per hour – plus a $5,000 hiring bonus,” according to the company. “As a family-owned company, we’re proud to bring to Connecticut our commitment to a stable, growth-oriented workplace culture,” says Gil De Las Alas, Uline’s chief human resources officer, in a statement. “Our people are what make Uline strong, and we look forward to welcoming hardworking and dedicated people to our team.” A Uline spokesperson said the company opened the network to “begin engaging and informing prospective candidates in advance of the 2026 opening” of the Plainfield site. “By signing up for the Talent Network, candidates can learn about Uline, hiring events and be among the first to apply as new roles become available,” the spokesperson said. “This early hiring effort ensures Uline can onboard and train new team members for a seamless start to warehouse operations, with a phased opening beginning in the summer,” the spokesperson said. “Uline’s in-depth training, which spans several weeks, is designed to support employees by helping them understand operations, build confidence in their roles, and maintain a safe, efficient workplace.” The spokesperson said the hiring for warehouse positions begins in 2026, but Uline is now hiring facilities, safety and human resources management positions, with “leading pay and a $5,000 hiring bonus.” Uline said those who sign up for its network also will learn about job requirements, Uline culture and opportunities to submit an application. Uline, which began construction on the facility in Plainfield in December 2024 said the company is on track to complete construction in June 2026, with warehouse stocking beginning shortly after. The warehouse “is expected to begin serving customers across New England in Fall 2026.” Plainfield First Selectman Kevin Cunningham has said Uline’s arrival has been years in the making. The company purchased the land, located at 105 Plainfield Pike, in August 2023 on what originally was an apple orchard. “This is a fantastic business,” Cunningham has said. “They very much want to be part of the community. … I think it’s something that we’re bring a lot to the table for our town and for the state. Tax revenue is great. Jobs are fantastic, and you know this is really a well thought out plan, so I do appreciate them coming in.” Uline has been a family-owned business since 1980. The company employs more than 9,000 people across 14 regional locations and 15 sales offices. More than 1,000 employees are in the East Coast region. “Our expansion into Connecticut, driven by steady growth since 1980 and a continued commitment to customer service, marks a major milestone for Uline,” De Las Alas, has said in a statement to the Courant. “After touring several potential sites across New England, Plainfield stood out for its ability to accommodate plans for our 1.3 million-square-foot facility and for its quality workforce.”
