Commissionerate Police Demolishes Illegal Business Units of Murder Accused in Bhubaneswar

Acting on court orders, the police carried out the demolition drive on Saturday, targeting Mohanty’s illegal business operations that had been running on encroached government land. Reports indicate that Tulu Mohanty, a key figure in the planned murder of Sasmit Biswal, had set up a ration shop and a fast food outlet on the illegally occupied land. Despite the illegal nature of his establishments, Mohanty had presented himself as a legitimate businessman in the area. This demolition action follows an ongoing investigation into the April 2025 murder of builder Sasmit Biswal near Padhansahi, under the jurisdiction of Airfield Police Station. Authorities have so far arrested six individuals in connection with the murder, and more arrests are expected as the investigation continues. Several suspects remain at large, with police intensifying efforts to track them down. The demolition drive is seen as a clear warning against criminal activities and the illegal occupation of public land. Commissionerate Police emphasized that anyone found engaging in such activities, including running businesses on encroached government property, will face strict legal action.
