Advertisement - HYDERABAD, Nov 04 (APP):Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division Shahmir Khan Bhutto, chaired a high-level meeting regarding national Measles and Rubella vaccination campaign. The meeting was held at Commissioner’s Office Committee Room to review arrangements for the 13-day nationwide vaccination campaign scheduled from November 17 to 29, 2025. The meeting also discussed field team training, vaccine availability, target population, community awareness, and monitoring mechanisms. Addressing the meeting, Commissioner said that a large number of deaths have occurred due to measles and rubella, mainly because many parents do not get their children vaccinated. He emphasized that the vaccination campaign is of vital importance for safeguarding children’s health, urging parents to cooperate with the health department and ensure their children are vaccinated against these deadly diseases. He also directed health officials to vaccinate all children aged 6 to 59 months during the campaign and to provide awareness sessions in educational institutions about the benefits of immunization. He said that purpose of the campaign is not just to meet targets but to protect the future generation from life-threatening diseases. Commissioner instructed all Deputy Commissioners of the division to review daily progress reports during the campaign and to resolve any operational issues immediately to ensure that all targeted children receive vaccine. He also stressed the need for awareness campaigns in schools, seminaries, villages, rural health centers and urban areas to encourage parents to vaccinate their children. Commissioner called on media, Information Department and civil society to raise maximum public awareness about the campaign. Briefing the meeting, Project Director EPI Sindh Dr. Raj Kumar said that, on the special directives of Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, divisional-level meetings with stakeholders are being held across the province to review arrangements for the campaign. He informed that 211 positive cases of measles and rubella have been reported in Shaheed Benazirabad Division. WHO Divisional EPI Consultants Dr. Irshad Shah and Dr. Jahangir Korai informed that during the campaign, more than 873,000 children aged 6 to 59 months in the division would be vaccinated against measles and rubella. They said that for this purpose, a total of 745 teams have been formed including 193 fixed teams, 512 outreach teams, and 30 mobile teams. At the conclusion of the meeting, Commissioner Shahmir Khan Bhutto expressed satisfaction over the preparations and hoped that with collective efforts, the vaccination campaign would be a great success. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Abdul Samad Nizamani, Deputy Commissioner Sanghar Sarah Javed, Deputy Commissioner Naushahro Feroze Muhammad Arsalan Saleem, member Sindh Assembly Chaudhry Javed Arain, Additional Commissioner-I Muhammad Ibrahim Almani, Additional Commissioner-II Syed Ammar Hussain, Rescue 1122 Incharge Abdul Manan, Additional Director Health Dr. Allah Bux Rajpar, District Health Officers, EPI focal persons, and other concerned officials. On this occasion, WHO souvenirs were distributed among participating officers by Commissioner Shahmir Khan Bhutto, while the Project Director presented a commemorative souvenir to the Commissioner.
