Commission halted due to Khumalo’s illness, Baloyi’s unavailability

The Madlanga Commission will resume on October 13, following an adjournment on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Commission attributed the adjournment to Crime Intelligence Head Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo’s ill health and the unavailability of Commissioner Sesi Baloyi next week.

General Khumalo, who has been considered a key witness in the Commission, fell sick on Wednesday after arriving at the Commission’s venue at Brigette Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria.

National police commissioner General Fannie Masemola has confirmed that Khumalo is receiving the best medical care and is in good spirits.

Khumalo was meant to continue with his testimony on Wednesday regarding the WhatsApp messages between alleged underworld cartel member and businessman, Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala and Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s alleged associate, Brown Mogotsi.

Masemola says Khumalo is receiving the best medical care.

Masemola says Khumalo felt unwell after arriving at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria.
