Bermuda Robotics Team Heads To Panama The Bermuda National Robotics Team is heading to Panama to compete in the 2025 FIRST Global Challenge. A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda National Robotics Team is set to represent the island on the world stage as they travel to Panama on October 27th to compete in the FIRST Global Challenge 2025, one of the most prestigious international robotics competitions. This year’s challenge, themed “Eco Equilibrium,” brings together 194 countries for a dynamic display of innovation, engineering, and global collaboration. “Bermuda enters the competition ranked #82 out of 194 nations, an impressive standing that reflects the team’s growing skill and determination to make their mark on the international robotics landscape. Their competition robot, affectionately named “Lo-Quat,” is ready to take on this year’s sustainability-focused challenge. Lo-Quat was designed and built entirely by Bermudian students, showcasing their technical knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. “The Bermuda National Robotics Program is on a mission to have robotics formally recognized as a national sport, creating more pathways for students to compete, innovate, and represent the island on the global stage. This vision aims to give young Bermudians the same level of support and recognition as athletes in more traditional sports, highlighting robotics as a discipline that fosters teamwork, critical thinking, and real-world STEM skills.” “This isn’t just about building robots, it’s about building the next generation of innovators and leaders,” said a team spokesperson. “We want every student in Bermuda to see themselves as capable of competing and excelling in technology.” A spokesperson added, “The full Bermuda National Robotics Team is made up of 20 talented students from both public and private schools across the island. After months of preparation, training, and technical development, the travel team of five student representatives has been selected to compete in Panama. They will join their peers from around the world for an intense, fast-paced competition where alliances are formed, challenges are tackled, and innovation is celebrated. “This year’s journey would not be possible without the generous support of sponsors, including Connectech Coding, Ark, CG Insurance, and Paradise Mobile. The team departs for Panama with pride, passion, and purpose, ready to wave the Bermudian flag high.”
