The city of Indianapolis has quietly become a powerhouse in the national professional sports landscape. The Indianapolis Colts are undefeated with the three most impressive victories in the league. The Pacers are the defending Eastern Conference champions after back-to-back ECF appearances. Then there’s the Fever who employ one of the biggest super stars in the history of sport, Caitlin Clark.
Those Fever need all the help they can get as they are currently in a 1-1 series deadlock with the WNBA’s 2022 and 2023 champions, the Las Vegas Aces.
The series returns to Indy Friday night where the Clark-less Fever hope to use home court advantage to take a series lead.
Colts’ star Zaire Franklin, who was courtside for Game 1 of the series, says it’s great for the city as a whole.
“Me being from Philly, I grew up with the sports teams feeding off each other,” Franklin said. “That type of energy is contagious. So obviously the Pacers popped it off going to the finals, the Fever doing they thing in the playoffs and obviously we were able to get off to a hot start. So I’m definitely supporting them…definitely looking forward to see them try to get the win against the Aces.”

Coach Steichen Reps Indiana Fever
Head coach Shane Steichen, who has been seen repping Indiana Fever gear in his press conferences, shares Franklin’s sentiment. He too believes that the continued success of Indy sports is great for the city’s nucleus.
“Anytime all the professional sports can support each other through their certain seasons and come out and show that support and cheer on the other teams, I think it’s huge,” Steichen said. “I think the players love it. The fans love it. It’s a lot of camaraderie back and forth.”
Coach was also impressed that the Fever are making the run without the all-world talent that is Caitlin Clark.
“It shows just the grittiness, the toughness, the resilience that they’re playing with right now,” Steichen said. “You can see they’re all playing together. So, it’s exciting for them. It’s exciting for the city.”
Caitlin Clark Becoming A Colts Fan
Clark has been in the spotlight for some time now since her unforgettable Final Four runs at Iowa University.
As such, her allegiances have been known. She was born and raised a Kansas City Chiefs fan. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, she grew up just a few hours north of Arrowhead Stadium.
However, since arriving in Indianapolis she has formed a new allegiance to the home town team.
She took to X to praise fellow super star Jonathan Taylor after his 165 yard performance against the Denver Broncos in Week 2.
Additionally the star has been doing community work around the city as she continues to embrace her new home in Indy.
