Colorado HC Deion Sanders Sends Message to Shohei Ohtani

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani had one of the greatest postseason performances in MLB history during Game 4 of the NLCS. His 10 strikeouts over 6+ scoreless innings were impressive, but he also went three-for-three at the plate and launched three home runs, one of which left Dodger Stadium. Also known as Prime Time, Sanders played both offense and defense during his time in the NFL as a wide receiver and cornerback. Nowadays, Sanders is a collegiate football coach for the Colorado Buffaloes, and he discussed the three-time MVP at his weekly press conference. “Can they just hand him the MVP during the game?" Sanders said of Ohtani's brilliance. “That is ridiculous, man.” Ohtani was already looking like the eventual National League MVP, and though it is a regular-season award, Coach Prime has a point. Sanders was also asked if Ohtani's performance was the best single-game performance, regardless of sport. “I’ve seen some wonderful things that have transpired in sports. It’s hard for me to say that, but that is unbelievable,” Sanders said. “He’s doing something that’s unfathomable.” More news: Yankees Hall of Famer Calls Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani MLB’s GOAT Over the course of his Hall of Fame career, Sanders earned eight Pro Bowl honors, two Super Bowl championships, and a Defensive Player of the Year award. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-1990s Team as both a cornerback and a punt returner. As illustrious as his gridiron career was, from 1989 to 2001, while Sanders was playing pro football at an All-Pro caliber rate, he was simultaneously a professional baseball player. Sanders played nine MLB seasons (including a 56-stolen-base season in 1997) and 14 NFL seasons, and is the only person to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series. Although a Super Bowl appearance might not be imminent for Ohtani, he will make his second career World Series appearance on Friday as his Dodgers prepare to take on the Toronto Blue Jays.
