President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro
Press Release
September 19, 2025
Colombian President Petro condemns US strike on Caribbean boat as “murder”
President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro has labelled the U.S. attack on another boat in the Caribbean, announced by President, Donald Trump on Monday, September, 15, 2025 following his fabricated narrative of the “war on drugs,” and reportedly killing three people, as “murder”.
“They just destroyed another boat with three people. Killing three passengers on an unarmed, unarmored boat with a missile is murder, and the U.S. government is killing Latin American people in their own land because it is territorial waters; they have no right,” he emphasized.
Petro framed the drug issue as primarily a public health challenge rather than one for law enforcement, prisons, or military force, pointing out that since President Richard Nixon launched the “war on drugs,” over a million Latin Americans have lost their lives.
On the other hand, he highlighted the irony that while U.S. agencies struggle to curb fentanyl use, Colombia leads the world in drug seizures, calling Colombian intelligence on the matter “excellent.” (Source- RT/Presidential Press)
