Boston Legacy FC has attracted a number of high profile investors as its inaugural season approaches in 2026. The newest of the group is University of Southern California women’s basketball star JuJu Watkins. Watkins, who is in her junior year with the Trojans, joins a list of investors that includes Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston, and Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens. “Boston Legacy FC is creating a space for women to achieve, lead, and inspire others at the highest level, and I’m proud to be part of the movement pushing women’s sports forward,” Watkins said in a statement. Watkins rose to basketball stardom in high school, becoming the No. 1 recruit in her class according to ESPN. Following her first season with USC, Watkins was named a first-time All-American and the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. As a sophomore, Watkins was recognized as the Naismith College Player of the Year, and the ANN Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year for the second season in a row. Her sophomore season was cut short however after suffering a torn ACL in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Watkins will sit out her junior season this year recovering from that injury.
