District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad has directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for the Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi ‘Margasira Masotsavam’ scheduled to be held at Burujupeta from November 21 to December 19. He enquired about the traffic diversions, parking, police bandobast, queue lines, ‘Annadanam’, water supply, health camps and other arrangements being made for the annual festival of Uttarandhra. During the meeting, Mr Harendhira asked the temple committee to reconsider about the allowing devotees to perform ‘abhishekam’ to the main deity during the festival. He said that it would lead to slow down in the movement of queue lines. The temple committee members also agreed with him. Emphasising about crowd management, and the queue lines, the Collector asked the authorities to ensure uninterrupted movement in que lines and to supply biscuits, and milk to children waiting in the queue for darshan. The Collector has also asked the authorities to arrange for rain-proof tents. Executive Officer, Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Devasthanam, K. Shobarani said that special focus would be given to the four auspicious Thursdays— November 17, December 4, 11 and 18, during the ‘Margasira Masotsavam.’ On these Thursdays, darshan will began from 2:30 a.m. On regular days, darshan will be held from 6 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., 12 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. She also added that VIP darshan slots were fixed between 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. ‘Annadanam’ will be held daily from 11 a.m. at the Sri Jagannadha Swamy Temple premises.
