Colin Jost reveals the one game that causes tension in his marriage to Scarlett Johansson

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Colin Jost is opening up about his marriage to Scarlett Johansson and how his competitive streak sometimes gets the better of him.
The Grymes Hill native recently teamed up with golf partner Eli Manning at the 2025 Ryder Cup All-Star Celebrity Match, where they faced off against Brooklyn Beckham and Toni Kukoc. After the event, Jost spoke with “Hello!” about his competitive streak — both on the field and at home.
“I definitely have a competitive spirit,” Jost said. “I think we both do, and we’re kind of competitive with each other, like, games are serious business.”
That spirit extends to their board game nights, where the “Saturday Night Live” star admitted he tends to come out on top.
“She’s really upset when I beat her at backgammon, which I do all the time,” Jost said.
Though Johansson might be less than thrilled with her husband’s backgammon winning streak, Jost shared she’s started picking up a new game: golf.
“She’s learning some golf too, so maybe we’ll see her out here at some point,” he said.
The lighthearted reveal is just the latest rare glimpse fans have gotten into the Hollywood power couple’s otherwise private marriage. The duo met in 2010 while Johansson was filming a sketch Jost wrote for “SNL.” They have been romantically linked since 2017 but tied the knot in October 2020 in a small ceremony in Palisades, New York, surrounded by loved ones during to the COVID-19 pandemic.
They share a son, Cosmo, 4, while Johansson is also mom to Rose, 11, with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
Johansson — who has previously credited the success of her marriage to moving “around the world in the same way” as Jost — remains one of Hollywood’s busiest stars while Jost balances life at home with his two-decade career at “SNL.”
Jost faces another big moment with the start of Season 51 of “Saturday Night Live” on Saturday, Oct. 4, on NBC. Jost is returning to the “Weekend Update” desk alongside Michael Che for their 11th season together, the longest-running duo in the show’s history. It also marks Jost’s 20th year with “SNL,” having joined as a writer in 2005.
