A guest on the All The Smoke Podcast, Cody hinted that his business with The Rock might not be over. “He came back to a very tumultuous WWE, a year or so ago, and decided, 'No ‘I’m not gonna deal with, instead I’m gonna create a new character even though I’m already one of the greatest characters ever,’ that being the Final Boss, and we’ve just scratched the surface on the Final Boss. There’s something incredibly special there.” As for when these two will continue their storyline, Rhodes didn't offer much clarity. The trick with someone like The Rock is twofold. First, his Hollywood schedule is extremely hectic. Second, he's literally one of the bosses in WWE, and if he doesn't want to do something, he can make that decision. Such was the case when the original storyline to turn John Cena heel pivoted. The WWE Universe was introduced to one of the biggest creative ideas in wrestling history, only to have it inexplicably abandoned. There was never an explanation for why Cena and The Rock were working in tandem, and one day, Cena just flipped back to being a babyface. Now, with Cena approaching his final match in WWE, it feels like there's little to no time for WWE to close off that storyline, and, for The Rock, it appears there is no desire to. Do Fans Really Want The Rock Back? As much of a draw as The Rock is, fans will be split on his return. The audience loves their favorites from the past, and The Rock remains one of the world's biggest stars, but what the fans want more than anything is stories that make sense. Triple H recently said in an interview that WWE is about stories and characters. It was never about great matches. If he truly believes that, WWE needs to avoid another rivalry between Cody and The Rock that has no ending.
