Co Antrim hotel cancels Halloween event after alleged sharing of inappropriate images

A hotel in Co Antrim has cancelled its series of Halloween events after the alleged sharing of inappropriate images. The Hedges Hotel in Stranocum announced its 'Haunting of the Hedges' event was cancelled, ahead of its planned kick off on Friday, October 24. The event was scheduled to take place this weekend and next. The hotel, which is located close to the Dark Hedges tourist spot featured in Game of Thrones , said the cancellation was due to an allegation of misconduct relating to a senior member of the external events team. In a statement, the hotel apologised to customers for the cancellation, adding that tickets would be automatically refunded. A spokesperson for The Hedges Hotel said: "Following serious actions of misconduct involving a senior member of the external events team, communicating extremely inappropriately with staff & sharing inappropriate images we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the upcoming Haunting at the Hedges – Fright Night event. "The safety, wellbeing, and dignity of our staff, performers, and guests are of paramount importance. "The matter has been escalated and is being dealt with through the appropriate legal and safeguarding channels. "We recognise how disappointing this news will be for many who were looking forward to attending. "However, we believe this is the only responsible course of action to ensure a safe and professional environment for everyone. "Once again we apologise sincerely - tickets will be automatically refunded for anyone using our online platform for anyone else who purchased them over the phone we will be in contact with refunds. Once again we are extremely sorry." For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here and sign up to our daily newsletter here.
