CNN Teams With T-Mobile for News Coverage and Ad Opportunity

CNN is the latest network to team up with T-Mobile’s SuperMobile plan, equipping its journalists with enhanced communication out in the field within the U.S. Announced on Monday, CNN’s journalists using T-Mobile’s SuperMobile business plan will be able to stream straight from the scene with speed, reach, and reliability for real-time coverage, according to the companies. While out in the field, journalists will benefit from faster uploads, more secure communications, and expanded coverage, enabling the network’s reporting teams to operate more quickly and consistently. “Technology and connectivity are critical components to the way that news is sourced, produced, and distributed,” Guy Griggs, svp of ad sales and client partnerships, CNN, said in a statement. “In this spirit, and as part of CNN’s wider digital transformation, we are excited to work in an integrated way with a trusted brand like T-Mobile to bring best-in-class and distinctive journalism to the palms of our audiences’ hands.” According to Variety, this collaboration will see the T-Mobile logo appear on a majority of live on-location news reports delivered via CNN’s digital platforms, including its website, mobile app, and the new All Access streaming subscription service. As part of the SuperMobile plan, CNN journalists will have satellite-to-mobile coverage courtesy of T-Satellite. In conjunction with Starlink’s more than 600 direct-to-cell satellites, CNN teams will be able to remain connected and utilize tools such as app-based voice and video chat, mapping, weather, and social media sharing in remote areas that terrestrial cellular networks cannot reach. “SuperMobile is the breakthrough that makes real-time, mobile-first journalism possible,” said Mo Katibeh, CMO, T-Mobile for Business. “CNN journalists can now stream live from anywhere—political rallies, remote towns, major events—with the speed and reliability to inform the world in real time.
