Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday launched the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Fortnight 2025’ at Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College campus in Raipur to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On the occasion, the Chief Minister flagged off door-to-door garbage collection vehicles dedicated to strengthening cleanliness efforts of Raipur Municipal Corporation and other urban bodies. Leading by example, Sai took up a broom and participated in cleaning the premises, sending out a strong message of public responsibility towards cleanliness. He said that keeping one’s surroundings clean is a collective duty and stressed that the fortnight will see a series of activities across the state, urging people from all walks of life to actively participate. The Chief Minister particularly called upon the youth to join the movement, observing that awareness and self-motivated participation in cleanliness will bring positive social change. Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister said the Prime Minister has consistently emphasised cleanliness and set a lofty national goal of a clean India. “We must carry this mission forward and discharge our responsibilities with the highest priority,” he added. CM inspects stalls, interacts with women SHGs During the inaugural programme, Chief Minister Sai visited various stalls set up by the Urban Administration Department. He interacted with women members of self-help groups and reviewed their livelihood-based activities. The Chief Minister also inspected stalls on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, CSPDCL, CREDA’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, waste collection and management models, and products manufactured by self-help groups. He appreciated the women’s initiatives and engaged in detailed discussions on their work. As part of the programme, the Chief Minister also encouraged women vendors associated with the “Khushiyon Ka Thela” initiative and handed over UPI sound box devices to facilitate digital transactions. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, MP Brijmohan Agrawal, MLA Rajesh Munat, MLA Sunil Soni, and Mayor Meenal Choubey were present, along with a large number of citizens.
