U.S. Rep. Ben Cline plans to host a town hall this week in Lexington to hear from local residents.
The 6th District Republican — who, like other GOP congressmen, has faced pushback this year for not hosting in-person town halls — has invited Lexington constituents to the Rockbridge County Courthouse at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
The town hall is limited to Lexington residents and registration is required, according to his office.
Cline said in a statement that he hopes the recent killing of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, who was gunned down on a college campus in Utah Sept. 10, will encourage those in attendance to remain respectful.
“In the wake of the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk it is more important than ever to ensure that we embrace civil discourse and the free exchange of ideas,” he said.
Lexington residents can register for the town hall online at eventbrite.com/e/lexington-town-hall-with-rep-ben-cline-tickets-1711171442849?aff=oddtdtcreator.
Those constituents not residing in Lexington are invited to stay tuned for an event in their locality.
