Cleveland man charged in Flats shootout that wounded 6 after Browns game

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cleveland man is charged in connection with a shootout that wounded six people earlier this month in the Flats.
Savone Robinson, 21, is charged in Cleveland Municipal Court with discharging a firearm over a public road or highway, felonious assault, tampering with evidence and aggravated riot.
His bond was set at $100,000 at his first court appearance on Monday, and he remains in the Cuyahoga County Jail.
The case was bound over to a Cuyahoga County grand jury that will decide how the case proceeds.
Police say Savone was one of four shooters who opened fire on Sept. 7, when some 40 total bullets were sprayed across the popular entertainment district following the first Browns game of the season.
He is the first person charged in the shooting.
The shooting stemmed from a fight that happened just before 6:15 p.m. at 1051 W. 10th Street, police said in court records.
Robinson admitted to investigators that he fired a gun during the incident, police wrote in court records. Surveillance video showed that Robinson handed his gun and cellphone to someone who ran from the scene, court records say.
When officers interviewed him at the scene, he said he dropped his gun and phone, court records say.
Within hours of the shooting, police shut down and boarded up Play Bar & Grill, which authorities said was involved in the incident.
City officials said the bar was shuttered after being involved in several violent incidents throughout the summer. The bar’s landlord, Flats East Bank, terminated the bar’s lease after the shooting.
The bar’s owners have fought back, publishing surveillance video they say exonerates them and filing a lawsuit against the city over the bar’s closure.
In 2024, Robinson spent one day in jail and was sentenced to probation stemming from an arrest in Parma.
In that case, police said Robinson had a stolen Range Rover, lied to police and carried a handgun with a small device that allowed the semi-automatic gun to fire like an automatic weapon.
