Los Montesinos authorities have dismantled an illegal marijuana plantation, seizing more than 13 kilos of cannabis and arresting two people in connection with drug-related offenses. The operation targeted a property in the municipality following an investigation that began on August 26, when Civil Guard officers noticed signs of an indoor marijuana cultivation at a local home. On September 11, after collecting crucial evidence, officers executed a coordinated search of the property. Inside, they discovered an indoor growing facility equipped with ventilation, lighting, and air conditioning, containing 25 cannabis plants in the flowering stage. Officers also seized 13.2 kilos of prepared marijuana ready for sale, 200 grams of MDMA (crystal), small amounts of cocaine, and €8,090 in cash. Additional items confiscated included a detonating firearm, multiple cell phones, computers, plantation maintenance machinery, and four vehicles, including some high-end models. The Los Montesinos Local Police assisted the Civil Guard in handling and securing the seized items. Two suspects, a 55-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, were arrested and charged with crimes against public health for drug trafficking, disobedience, and document falsification. Following their appearance before Torrevieja Court of Instruction No. 1, the man was remanded in provisional prison while the woman was released on bail. This operation highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement in the region to tackle illegal drug cultivation and trafficking, safeguarding public health and community safety
