PLYMOUTH, Mich. – The city of Plymouth is moving ahead with a master plan that has sparked community debate. Despite concerns, the city commission voted to approve the plan on Monday (Oct. 20). A major point of contention is the potential re-zoning of the Christian Science Church property on Ann Arbor Trail. Some residents oppose the idea of multi-family homes being built there. Plymouth City Manager Chris Portman told Local 4 that the master plan serves as a guiding policy and does not directly rezone any properties. City leaders also emphasized that the plan does not require the church to relocate. Even if the area is rezoned in the future, single-family homes would still be allowed on the site.
