As well as serving their menu items in quirky ways, such as their full English on a skillet frying pan, their décor is also on the more unique side. From superstar gigs to cosy pubs, find out What’s On in Wales by signing up to our newsletter here
From a mug wall, vintage clocks to thimbles decorating the café, it is made to look and feel like “your nan’s house”.
Launching in 2018, Haystack has been named the ‘best in Wales’ as well as being nominated for multiple foodie awards with a loyal customer base and two already constantly busy venues.
This Saturday, September 27, Haystack on Cowbridge Road East, Canton will be officially opening their doors with 1000 free coffees up grabs across the weekend.
With venues across south Wales, owner Liam Lazarus said Cardiff was “always on the cards” and a “natural step” for Haystack as a Welsh business.
Looking at locations in the town centre, when Liam came to Canton he soon realised it was the “perfect” place for the new location.
He said: “We viewed places in the city centre loads for the value, it is terrible. The rent is mental and the rates are crazy. We know that we didn’t need to be town centre we kind of rely on drawing people that already know us or drawing in new customers from whatever area.
“Canton came up, it was a rainy horrible day over a year ago when I came to view this building originally and I parked in the free parking which I thought ‘free parking in the area, fantastic,’ and walked onto Cowbridge Road East and it is the busiest road I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Natural footfall and a great location, it seemed to be perfect.”
Here is a sneak peak of the venue ahead of its officially opening on Saturday.
