CISF personnel, railway officials carry out cleanliness drive in Tiruchi

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel of Tiruchi international airport carried out a cleanliness drive, ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’, at R.S. Puram park in K.K. Nagar here on Thursday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The cleanliness drive was carried out under the supervision of Dilip Namboodiri, Deputy Commandant of CISF Unit, at Tiruchi airport. The participating CISF personnel devoted an hour to rejuvenate the local park to promote the idea that clean public spaces were essential for community health and well-being.

The cleanliness drive was a tribute to the Father of the Nation whose vision of a Clean India inspired the nation-wide Swachh Bharat Mission, a release said.

Cleanliness Drives in Tiruchi Division

The Tiruchi Railway Division organised a special cleanliness drive on Thursday at Tiruchi, Villupuram, Puducherry, Vriddhachalam, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam railway stations.

The special drive was part of the Division’s fortnight -long cleanliness campaign from September 17 to October 2 themed ‘Celebrating Cleanliness and Community Participation’.

The Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, Balak Ram Negi spearheaded the drive near the parcel office on the additional entry side of the Tiruchi railway junction in which all branch officers, staff and sanitary workers participated.

Mr. Balak Ram Negi later felicitated all Safai Karamcharis (sanitary workers) and lauded their efforts in keeping the station premises clean round-the-clock, a press release from the Tiruchi Division said.
