Ciri's Epic Time Travel & World-Hopping Adventure

Warning! Spoilers for The Witcher season 4 explained! Ciri's story in The Witcher season 4 was dedicated to her time with the Rats, which means the best part of her story is coming up next. Though the Netflix series has taken some creative liberties with the story outlined by Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher books, the setup of season 4's ending implies that the upcoming final season will at least follow the basics of the canon adventure. In Ciri's case, this means finally coming into her full power. The Witcher season 4's exploration of Ciri's adventures with the Rats was, more or less, as it was in the books. The same is unfortunately true for how this season ended. The bounty hunter Leo Bonhart murdered Ciri's friends and took her captive. The last we saw of Ciri, she was screaming in sorrow and agony while being forced to watch Bonhart decapitate her lover, Mistle. It was a pretty dark ending for The Witcher's most recent installment. However, the relative book accuracy here allows us to assume what will happen in the Witcher season 5, and it's certainly something to look forward to. Ciri Will Travel Through Time & Between Worlds In The Witcher Season 5 Ciri famously becomes known as The Lady of the Worlds, but after four seasons of The Witcher, she still hasn't quite gotten there yet. However, now that she has been captured by Leo Bonhart, Ciri is on her way toward this destiny. According to the books, "Falka" will eventually manage an escape, and, to get as far away from her various pursuers, she heads to Tor Zireael, a fabled tower full of portals. Only those with Elder Blood can activate the tower's magic, but it wasn't something that Ciri could control. She ended up in another dimension, Aen Elle—the world of the Elves. From there, it takes some time, but with the help of her old unicorn friend, Ihuarraquax, Ciri eventually figures out how to travel through time and dimensions without the help of a tower of portals. Ciri's time traversing through worlds is something The Witcher fans have been looking forward to, and it seems the Netflix series has saved it for the very last season. Though it's still possible that season 5 will take a different route with Ciri's story, the introduction of Nimue— a mage from the future who helps Ciri travel to the correct time and place—is further proof that this story is on the way. Of course, Ciri will have to go through a bit more misfortune first. Nimue is a mage from the future who ends up being pivotal to Ciri finally making it through worlds to Strygga Castle. Ciri Will First Have To Overcome Her Darkest Story Yet As previously mentioned, Ciri will only begin her time/world-jumping adventures after she escapes from Leo Bonhart. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen particularly quickly in the Witcher books. Bonhart takes considerable pleasure in tormenting Ciri, so he doesn't kill her or turn her over as he was dually hired to do. Instead, he forces her to fight to the death in an arena for coin.
