The Cayman Islands National Insurance Company (CINICO) recently partnered with Inspire Cayman Training to improve driving safety on Cayman’s roads by launching a new Safe Driver Programme. With more vehicles on Cayman’s roads, safety is more important than ever. New drivers are at higher risk, since inexperience often contributes to accidents. The Safe Driver Programme helps these drivers develop the skills, confidence, and awareness needed to stay safe on Cayman’s roads. How it works The Safe Driver Programme combines classroom instruction with advanced simulator training to strengthen driver awareness and responsible decision-making. It is open to drivers aged 17 to 20, and those with less than two years of driving experience since the first issue of their Cayman driver’s license. Participants will learn: Cayman’s driving laws, local road conditions, basic vehicle maintenance, and the dangers of impaired driving. How to identify risks, manage fatigue, and handle real-world driving scenarios safely. Participants referred by CINICO can take the Safe Driver Programme at a discounted rate of $290 (standard fee $350). Those who achieve a minimum 90% pass rate receive a Certificate of Completion, which may qualify them for reductions in CINICO motor insurance premiums. While participation doesn’t guarantee motor insurance coverage, all CINICO referrals are eligible for the reduced course rate. A shared community vision for safety The partnership between CINICO and Inspire Cayman Training reflects their shared commitment to improving road safety and creating innovative solutions with real impact in the community. “As a government-owned insurer, our concern extends beyond those we insure – it extends to everyone in the Cayman Islands,” said Michael Gayle, CEO of CINICO. “Through this partnership with Inspire Cayman, we’re helping reduce accidents, protect families, and create safer driving conditions for all residents.” Administering the Safe Driver Programme aligns with Inspire Cayman Training’s mission to equip Caymanians with the skills and qualifications to succeed in the workforce and strengthen the local economy. Inspire delivers accredited Technical and Vocational Education & Training (TVET) and career programmes, with access to over 12,000 online and in-person courses. “We’re proud to partner with CINICO on this new Safe Driver Programme,” said Gabby Myles, Managing Director of Inspire Cayman Training. “It’s all about helping our young people and new drivers gain the confidence, awareness, and skills they need to stay safe on Cayman’s roads. Together, we’re doing our part to make the community safer for everyone.” How to register Interested participants can register online at cinico.ky/safe-driver-programme.
