Cigna Group, one of the nation's biggest health care companies, announced Thursday that Dr. Amy Flaster has been named chief medical officer. Flaster stepped into her new role on November 1 after joining the company last year as chief medical officer of Cigna Healthcare. She will oversee both Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth Health Services, a subsidiary of the Cigna Group that handles pharmacy services, benefits solutions and care management. It has more than 186 million customers and serves in more than 30 countries and jurisdictions. According to Cigna, Flaster will “spearhead efforts to advance clinical excellence, introduce innovative care models, strengthen and grow clinical teams and leverage technology to enhance whole-person health.” What To Know According to Cigna Group, Flaster has been a driving force behind many of the programs that improve health outcomes and affordability for customers since she joined the company. Before joining Cigna Group, Flaster served as the chief medical officer for ConcertoCare, led the population health team at Health Catalyst, and held hospital leadership roles at Mass General Brigham. Flaster is a proven strategic and innovative leader with extensive clinical and operational experience in patient care, technology, hospital leadership and value-based care," Cigna Group Chairman and CEO David M. Cordani said in a statement. "In this new role, she will continue our journey to improve the health of millions of patients in partnership with their clinicians. Flaster is taking over this role after her predecessor, Dr. David Brailer, left the company. Brailer has served as the executive vice president and chief health officer since 2022. Additionally, the company announced other leadership changes. Head of Business Improvement and Innovation Chris DeRosa is retiring after more than two decades of Cigna Group leadership. Katya Andresen, the chief digital and analytics officer at the Cigna Group, will now led the organization's Excellence and Transformation efforts. This includes shaping how customers engage with the company and driving digital innovation across digital, service and clinical touchpoints, according to Cigna Group. What People Are Saying David M.
