As part of Older Persons Month, CIBC Caribbean hosted a special Senior Appreciation Event at its Main Street Branch celebrating the contributions of Cayman’s senior citizens and reaffirming the bank’s ongoing commitment to honouring their legacy and ensuring their continued inclusion in a rapidly changing financial landscape. The event brought together seniors from across the community for an evening of appreciation, inspiration, and education. It formed part of CIBC Caribbean’s broader mission to demonstrate that while banking continues to evolve with new technologies and digital solutions, the bank remains steadfast in its pledge to look out for its seniors and provide personalized support and accessible services. “Our seniors are the pillars of this community. Their wisdom, sacrifice, and resilience have shaped the Cayman Islands into the strong society it is today,” said Mr. Gemel Sobers, Country Head Designate at CIBC Caribbean. “As our bank continues to transform, our seniors will never be left behind. We are committed to ensuring that every senior client feels supported, respected, and valued, not only during Older Persons Month but every day,” he added. Guests were also treated to an informative presentation by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS), with Detective Constables K. White and L. Lewis sharing valuable tips on how to protect against fraud. The officers provided practical examples of common scams affecting the Cayman Islands, including romance scams and cases where fraudsters impersonate family members such as a grandchild sending a desperate message for money. “Fraudsters often target the most vulnerable, so awareness is the best defence,” explained Mr. Samuel McField, Director of Personal, Platinum, and Business Banking. “At CIBC Caribbean, we strongly encourage our clients, especially our seniors, to reach out to us directly if they ever have doubts or concerns about a message, phone call, or transaction. Our team is here to help ensure their safety and peace of mind,” he said. The event also featured artwork by Caymanian artist Samuel “Lutz” Luelan Bodden, whose vivid depictions of local life and landmarks reflect the beauty and history of the Cayman Islands, a fitting tribute to the theme of honouring legacy.
