Christmas tree delivered to Cambridgeshire town ‘half dying’ slammed as ‘absolute disgrace’

A Christmas tree has been called an “absolute disgrace”, after it was delivered looking partly withered and half-dead. Christmas is just around the corner, and that means Christmas trees will be popping up in Cambridgeshire towns. This week, Wisbech had its Christmas tree delivered. However, the state it arrived in did not impress Wisbech Town Council. According to the council, the tree arrived “half dead or dying” and they branded it an “absolute disgrace”. A council spokesperson has said they have contacted the tree supplier to “remedy the situation”. They have not named the supplier. The spokesperson said: “The Christmas tree which has been delivered to Wisbech this year is not of the quality which had been expected by the council. Consequently, the council has contacted the supplier of the tree to achieve a remedy to the situation. "It is understood from the supplier that, because of the extremely dry weather conditions this year, the growth/health of taller trees (those in excess of 30 feet in height) has suffered. The council is arranging with the supplier the provision of a replacement Christmas tree.” To get more breaking news and top stories delivered directly to your phone, join our new WhatsApp community.
