The government has admitted Christ the Teacher College of Education, transitioning from a private college to a public one. It follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the college and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). The signing was done by the Director-General of GTEC, Prof. Ahmed Jinapor and the acting Principal of Christ the Teacher College of Education, Rev. Msgr. Louis Kofi Tuffuor, at the GTEC premises on Friday, October 24, 2025. Prof. Jinapor confirmed the transition of the institution into a state-owned institution, affirming it was now obligated to observe government regulations and entitled to privileges such as subventions from the government. He further stated that GTEC will collaborate with the National Conference of Principals of Education (PRINCOF) to provide some form of orientation and education for the management of the college. The acting Principal of the college, Rev. Msgr. Louis Kofi Tuffour, for his part, expressed appreciation to the Commission and committed to cooperating with GTEC to ensure that the college operates in a way that aligns with the government’s directives. Present for the event were the PRINCOF President, Prof. Samuel A. Atintono, the PRINCOF General Secretary, Dr. Samuel Addae-Boateng, PRINCOF Zonal Chair, Dr. Anthony Baabereyir, Director for Corporate Affairs at GTEC, Mr. Jerry Sarfo and Head of PR and Protocol at GTEC, Mr. Charles Mbeah. There were also the Acting Vice Principal of Christ the Teacher College of Education, Rev. Fr. Kirk Kwame Siabour, Quality Assurance Officer of Christ the Teacher College of Education, Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Kumah, and the Council Member of the College Ms. Georgina D. Ofori.
