Chrishell Stause isn’t just parting ways with Selling Sunset — but with her former costars as well. After Chrishell, 44, announced her exit from the show, eagle-eyed followers noticed that her following count on Instagram changed. Chrishell notably unfollowed most of her cast members from the hit Netflix series — except for Chelsea Lazkani. (The season 9 cast featured Chrishell, Chelsea, Nicole Young, Emma Hernan, Bre Tiesi, Sandra Vergara and Mary Bonnet.) Chrishell had a difficult final season on Selling Sunset as she ended up at odds with most of the cast. “I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially,” Chrishell told Bustle in an interview published on Friday, November 7, while discussing her decision to leave. “I’m lucky to have other forms of employment, because it’s no longer good for my mental health.” The reality star noted that she had no idea whether the show would return for more seasons. “If they do continue, I wish them the best. If they do do another one, by then, I may not watch it. I don’t know. But I have no ill will toward the show,” she added. “The show has given me so many opportunities, and I don’t want to be bitter about it, even though I’m leaving not in the way that I would’ve loved.” Chrishell continued: “I think, after so many hours, I felt like, ‘Sit here, get through it. You’re not a quitter, but you never have to do this again.’” The former soap star originally joined the show when it premiered in 2019. She was a consistent presence until ongoing feuds with Nicole Young and former friend Emma Hernan made her reconsider her future on the show. “It felt like I was in a good place with everyone — I felt happy and strong about the real estate aspect,” Chrishell told Variety in October. “This tends to happen with this show. When you think you’re going to have a pretty easy season, without fail, those are the ones that end up being the hardest.” Chrishell noted that she didn’t have any regrets about her time on Selling Sunset. “I liked this season. I don’t think I had a hard season. It’s just the way it culminates with the reunion, and how everything landed,” she continued. “It’s interesting that I went into the season thinking everything was going to be easy. Never say those famous last words.” Chrishell also hinted she had no desire to return. “The reunion was so brutal. In that moment, I realized I will be done here going forward. I wish everyone the best, but this isn’t the place for me. It felt a little bit like a dog pile,” she added. “I don’t know when they will start filming. I hope they never tell me.” Selling Sunset is currently streaming on Netflix.
