Chocolate found in pants of 'Going Bananas' burglar

Boston Police Department officers were patrolling downtown late on Wednesday when they responded to a business on Salem Street called “Going Bananas” following a report that a man wearing all black was attempting to break into the convenience store.
Officers allege they arrived to find 24-year-old Elvin Clayton of Roxbury crouched in front of an open door to the business. The police say that when they put eyes on Clayton, he was “seen stuffing items into his clothing before trying to walk away.”
After apprehending Clayton, police spoke with a witness who told them Clayton had approached them and asked to borrow a screwdriver. Police allege they found a sealed box of baseball cards and an unopened box of chocolates hidden inside the suspect’s pants.
Clayton faces a felony charge for breaking and entering and misdemeanor charge of possessing a burglarious instrument.

The following calls and arrests were reported by the BPD from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, according to information provided by the department.
BPD officers responded to at least 268 reported incidents in the covered 24-hour period. The department responded to one robbery, six aggravated assaults, one commercial burglary, one residential burglary, three instances of larceny from a vehicle, 22 other cases of larceny, and three reported auto thefts. There were no reported homicides.
