The Boston Legacy is adding its second transfer to its nascent roster, signing Washington Spirit forward Chloe Ricketts to a contract through 2028.
Ricketts, 18, is joining the Houston Dash for the rest of the 2025 NWSL season and will join the Legacy in January.
Ricketts, a Michigan native, turned pro when she signed with the Spirit in 2023 at age 15 — the first player to use the NWSL’s process to join a team while under the age of 18. The league had previously had a minimum-age requirement.
She made her NWSL debut in April 2023, and had 17 appearances in her rookie season. In 2024, she saw time in only four matches with Washington, and the team declined her option this summer after she appeared in seven games, allowing her to seek a new team in free agency.

Ricketts made her first under-20 national team appearance this year at the CONCACAF championships.
“At the age of 18, Chloe has already made 30 senior appearances at the professional level,” Legacy FC general manager Domè Guasch said in a release. “Bringing youth national team experience, Chloe will add energy, versatility and creativity to our squad. As we look to build not only for 2026 but for the long term, Chloe will be a valuable addition.”
The Legacy have eight players signed. They need a minimum of 22 before they kick off their inaugural season next year at Gillette Stadium. Keep track of all the signings here.
