Chloe East has been cast in the leading female role in Hulu‘s upcoming mystery series “Foster Dade.” She will play Annabeth Whittaker, a student at an elite East Coast boarding school called Kennedy. Per the official character description, “Annabeth moves through Kennedy with an indecipherable kind of magic — the sort that makes boys fall under her spell before they realize what’s happened, and Foster is no exception. She takes Foster under her wing, and their chemistry is undeniable. But beneath her wit and warmth lies something guarded, secrets and sorrows carefully concealed. Whatever pulls them together may also be the thing that tears them apart.” Adapted from Nash Jenkins’ 2023 novel “Foster Dade Explores the Cosmos,” the series “explores privilege, scandal, sexuality and masculinity amid the rise of social media, millennial anxiety and pharmaceuticals,” according to the logline. In the book, an unnamed narrator moves into the Kennedy dorm room once occupied by Foster Dade, who had transferred to the boarding school in 2008 but was later expelled due to a scandal that the narrator investigates over the course of years. East is best known for starring in A24’s 2024 horror film “Heretic,” in which she and Sophie Thatcher play Mormon missionaries opposite a recluse played by Hugh Grant. Her other prominent credits include the HBO Max series “Generation” (2021), the Steven Spielberg film “The Fabelmans” (2022) and Kogonada’s “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” (2025). Up next, East will appear in Hailey Gates’ “Atropia,” Kornél Mundruczó’s “At the Sea” and Chandler Levack’s “Roommates.” She is repped by WME, Link Entertainment, Vault Entertainment and Felker Toczek Suddleson McGinnis Ryan.
