The independent broadband provider stepped in after hearing the boys needed new windbreaker jackets last year, to keep them warm at training and matches, and funded the purchase of 21 Macron Atlantic Hero Windbreakers to kit out the whole team. GoFibre has invested in the team through its social impact strategy which aims to make a positive, long-term difference for its customers and their communities. The company supports a range of grassroots sports clubs in the Borders, including Borders Girls' Rugby and the Melrose 7s. Iain Murray, Chirnside Juniors 2012s Team Coach, said: "We are very grateful to Go Fibre for the sponsorship which has allowed us to provide rain jackets for the whole team, especially for the winter season. With us training outdoors all year round these really help on wet matchdays and training, giving the team protection from the elements. "Chirnside Juniors welcomes children of various ages and abilities into the world of football, and our club coaches work closely with other footballing partnerships to continually provide the children with the best opportunities to develop further." Neil Conaghan, CEO, GoFibre said: “Backing grassroots sports is a great example of the GoFibre ethos of supporting local communities in the areas where we build. Chirnside Juniors is a fantastic and well-supported local team, and we’re delighted to be able to equip them for colder weather, so they could keep playing and scoring right through the winter season, last year and in the winter season to come.” In recent years, huge progress has been made to improve broadband connectivity for communities across Scotland. GoFibre is the chosen supplier to deliver full fibre broadband to around 13,000 premises across the Scottish Borders and East Lothian, as part of Project Gigabit. Build is currently underway in Chirnside. Project Gigabit is the UK Government’s programme to enable hard-to-reach communities to access lightning-fast gigabit-capable broadband. The Scottish Government is playing a key role in delivering Project Gigabit procurements in Scotland by administering and managing the delivery of the contracts. Over 25,000 premises are currently ready-to-connect on GoFibre’s network across the Borders. Residents and businesses can buy now or register for updates in their area by visiting gofibre.co.uk/register
