Hyderabad: Celebrations have poured in from across the country after Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was announced as the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The legendary actor, who has enthralled audiences for over four decades in Malayalam cinema and across other Indian languages, will be honoured at the 71st National Awards ceremony on September 23.
Among those extending heartfelt wishes was Megastar Chiranjeevi, who shares a warm friendship with Mohanlal. Taking to social media, Chiranjeevi praised Lalettan’s extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema. “Dear Lalettan, heartiest congratulations on being honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Your incredible journey, iconic performances, have enriched Indian cinema. This is truly a well-deserved recognition for you,” he wrote, along with a photograph of the two stalwarts together.
Mohanlal’s selection for the country’s highest film honour has been widely celebrated by fans and colleagues alike, recognising not only his prolific body of work but also the versatility that has defined his career. Chiranjeevi’s congratulatory note has since gone viral, with admirers calling the moment a union of two great cinematic forces.
The Government of India’s announcement has further cemented Mohanlal’s legacy as one of the most respected actors in Indian cinema, and anticipation is high as he prepares to receive the honour in New Delhi this week.
