CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) – Conservatives, Christians and followers of the late influencer Charlie Kirk gather here at Riverside Park in Chippewa Falls. All coming to reflect on his impact to politics and what some say his stance on faith too.
Organizers needed extra time to get the vigil together due to personal reasons. There was music and speakers at the vigil.
The conservative commentator was shot and killed at his Turning Point USA event in Utah on September 10th. Since then, many vigils and memorials have taken place. President Donald Trump also announced he would award Kirk with the Medal of Freedom.
Tony Stephenson, who helped organize Sunday’s vigil, always admired Kirk’s expression of religion.
“I think for me, personally, Charlie always made an impact on me as somebody who is bold and confident in their faith. That brought him to many places. Near and far. Around the world even. His faith was fundamentally his base for his political views,” said Stephenson.
Recently, the United States Congress has voted to make October 14th Charlie Kirk Memorial Day.
