Successive U.S. administrations have worked to curtail China's access to U.S. chip technology, resulting in Beijing taking measures to boost domestic analog semiconductor production, casting a shadow over TI's ability to address a key market. With tariff discussions on the horizon, trade tensions between the U.S. and China- which usually makes up nearly 20% of TI's annual sales- have lingered. TI expects revenue between $4.22 billion and $4.58 billion for the fourth quarter, compared with estimates of $4.51 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG. It forecast per-share profit between $1.13 and $1.39 for the quarter, below estimates of $1.41 per share. "Data points in the automotive and industrial end markets remain very mixed, especially in light of tariffs and trade-disputes," said Tore Svanberg, managing director at Stifel. "While investors were expecting some moderate downside in the fourth-quarter outlook, the guidance was perhaps a tad weaker than expected." Still, the company reported third-quarter revenue of $4.74 billion above estimates of $4.64 billion in the light of improving end-market demand in the personal electronics industry. It reported earnings of $1.48 per share for the third quarter, coming in just shy of estimates of $1.49. The company has been investing heavily to expand production capacity as U.S. President Donald Trump pushes to onshore chip supply chains. Reporting by Arsheeya Bajwa; Editing by Maju Samuel
