Chinese Embassy in Banjul to launch Consular Visa services

As next year 2026 will mark the 10th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries, he said that: “I am very pleased to announce that the Chinese Embassy in The Gambia will officially launch consular visa services on October 7, 2025.”

He added that next year will also be the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges and so his embassy will do its best to continue promoting people-to-people exchanges and look forward to the further development of China-Gambia friendship.

Moreover, Ambassador Liu Jin revealed that the last FOCAC Beijing Summit opened a new journey for China and Africa to build a community with a shared future.

He said that President Xi Jinping and President Adama Barrow, jointly announced that China-Gambia relations is to be elevated to a strategic partnership, charting a new blueprint for our bilateral relations.

He added that over the past year, the two sides have actively implemented the outcomes of the summit and achieved great progress.

“The political mutual trust between our two countries has been increasingly deepened, by consolidating and continuing the good momentum of high-level exchanges between our two countries,” he confirmed.

He continued that China and Gambia firmly support each other on issues involving their respective core interests and that The Gambia government firmly adheres to the one-China principle.

The practical cooperation between China and The Gambia, he said has also achieved fruitful results this year, and among them, people-to-people exchanges have become a highlight.

He further indicated that China has consistently opened its door wider to the world and has remained the world’s second largest importer for 16 consecutive years, and is the top three trading partner of 157 countries and regions.

Applauding the Chinese government on its 76th anniversary, Abdoulie Sanyang, Minister for Interior, revealed that over the past 76 years, the People’s Republic of China have achieved groundbreaking progress, transformative breakthroughs and historic accomplishments in national development and global relations.

These unprecedented developments, he said, have resulted in the substantial rise of China’s in its national strength and ultimately becoming a pivotal player in global economic and political affairs.

He noted that 25 years of the FOCAC summit has registered significant progress for both China and Africa, a partnership that has fostered inclusiveness, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation, ensuring that no country is left behind.

“FOCAC has contributed immensely to both regional and multilateral development in advancing Africa’s Agenda 2063,” he said, adding that Gambia’s participation in the 2024 FOCAC Summit in Beijing has further strengthened the two countries’ diplomatic engagement and expanded their economic, trade, social, and political ties.

Minister Sanyang revealed that the Chinese Government Scholarship for Bachelors and Masters degree programs that continues to be offered to Gambians to study in China and the ongoing bilateral and multilateral seminars to build capacity and share experience targeting more than 500 Gambians from across all sectors are contributing greatly to the human resources development efforts of The Gambia.

He also applauded the ongoing second phase of the China-Aid Project on Agricultural Technology Assistance to The Gambia focusing on local breeding and promotion of hybrid rice from 2022 to 2025.
