Kuala Lumpur, October 25 (QNA) - The Chinese and US delegations convened for talks on economic and trade issues in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, according to Xinhua news agency. China's Ministry of Commerce said in a statement that the two sides will hold consultations on important issues in China-US economic and trade ties in accordance with the important consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries during their phone calls this year. Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng along with Vice Minister of Commerce Li Chenggang and Vice Minister of Finance Liao Min led the Chinese side, while that of the US was led Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Bessent and He Lifeng are negotiating to ease the newly escalated trade measures imposed by the two countries against each other. They will also pave the way for talks expected next Thursday between US and Chinese presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea.
