While child care regulations are intended to keep children safe, MPR News writes some providers are saying rules “go a little too far” and are concerned about the costs to keep up with requirements. “Some say one reason so many providers are quitting is because they feel burdened by complex regulations and strict enforcement actions that drive up their cost of doing business.”
A medical incident at school that led to an autistic Somali boy’s death has left his family wanting answers. Sahan Journal says “second-grader Abdinasir Maow Gedi, 7, was taken to a hospital in St. Cloud and then airlifted to [Hennepin County Medical Center] where he died last week.” The family has questions about the school’s response.
A judge has granted the city of Minneapolis a temporary restraining order request for a homeless encampment, WCCO TV reports. The order is against a commercial parking lot owner who used his property for the encampment. “The order says Hamoudi Sabri, who owns [the lot] off of East Lake Street as well as others in the Twin Cities, cannot allow a homeless encampment on any of his properties in Minneapolis until further order from the court.”
A southern Minnesota family has come up with a unique way to tackle invasive weeds that can’t be bleat. Their business’ goats do the hard work. KTTC explains “from city prairies to private properties, [their] herd clears invasive weeds and sustains wildflowers. It all started in 2020 with just a few goats in their backyard.”
