Chihana reassures Mzimba of President Mutharika’s development commitment

Second Vice President Enock Chihana has reassured Mzimba residents of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s commitment to fast-tracking development in the district. Speaking to traditional leaders, business people, youth, and council officials, Chihana said, “The government will prioritise completing the new district council offices and Mzimba Stadium, key to transforming the district into a modern municipality”. He added, “Mzimba remains an important district whose growth will complement Mzuzu City and boost the northern region’s contribution to national development”. Chihana outlined other projects under the President’s agenda, including a new hospital, resuming Mombela University, and upgrading roads to improve connectivity and economic activity. “Government will continue engaging citizens to ensure development reflects their priorities and Malawi’s long-term growth,” he stressed. On hunger in parts of the country, Chihana assured communities, “Relief maize distribution will soon start, and delivery of inputs under FISP will be accelerated to ensure food security this season”. During the meeting, Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V lauded the appointment of Chihana, calling it “A great honour for the northern region”. The Ngoni Paramount Chief also urged government to fast-track the Mbelwa District Council offices and Mzimba Stadium, and improve roads, saying, “These developments will uplift the district’s image and stimulate growth”.
